For foreign dog show, I choose to keep CACS (for example : not CACL when it is in Luxembourg) because it is the same thing. To establish Statistics, it is easier to use always same words.

The judge may awarded the RCACS to the second best male and second the best female.

 CHARACTER TEST

(from BHCF website)

Character Test for Saarloos Wolfdog is a selection test to check the dog behave typically like a Saarloos Wolfdog must behave.
Its reserve and wolf-like wish to flee in unknown situations, are typical for the Saarloos Wolfdog and should be retained as typical qualities of the breed.
Every Saarloos Wolfdog excessively afraid or aggressive should be dismiss from breeding.

Progress of the Test :

It is realized in National or Regional Kennel Dog Show of BHCF and overseen by two testers recognized by the BHCF committee. The dog must be at least 1 years old.
It is possible to realize a baby test between 4 months and 1 years old.

The testers give the owner a collar and a 1.50 meter leash he puts to his dog. There are 4 steps :

  • Walk with the owner surrounded by people and dogs. We appreciate dog ability to trust in his owner when it copes with an obstacle (table, chair, judge).
  • Sound signal and visual stimuli (stick, ribbon, umbrella).
  • Return to the jury : the dog interests in the tester and identify him.
  • Tatoo or chip check by the tester. Return to state of calm.

Each step is marked on 5 points, with a total mark of 20 points.
If the dog behaves like "behavior A", it is refered.

Sum :

  • If sum < 12 points : refered.
  • If sum between 12 and 14 points : Very Good
  • If sum between 15 and 20 points : Excellent.

Points awarded according to dog behavior :

  • A : aggressive behavior, widespread panic => 0 points => refered
  • B : indifferent, untouchable => 3 points => accepted
  • C : nice, cheerful, comfortable => 4 points
  • D : reserved, avoid the contact without disagreeing it => 5 points

If the dog is refered, it can be realized again in another national or regional kennel club dog show.
Jury takes into account the dog age.

N.B. : This exam can be realized only with the approval of the BHCF committee and judged by testers recognized by this committee.
